Happy 5th Birthday, Brooke du jour! WOW. That feels like a really long time, right? Definitely an occasion worth celebrating, so I did what any normal person would do and put on a ball gown and popped Veuve at LACMA at 9 am. The security guard was obvi not pleased with the shenanigans, but Kara and I made it through the shoot unscathed.
I choose Brooke du jour time and time again, because I’ve always felt that this blog aligns with my heart. After five years, I just can’t imagine not blogging. I’ve poured so much love, energy and time into Brooke du jour, and I know I always will. So much has happened over the last five years and been documented on this site. Most recently, I left Dallas and moved back to LA. I turned 25. I threw many epic parties. I can’t wait to see what the next five years will bring (the joy, trials and chances and everything in between).
I’m so incredibly grateful for this space and the people I share it with. Whether you’ve been reading Brooke du jour for five years or 35 seconds, thank you for hanging out with me via the Internet and building a community with me that I am so proud of. Brooke du jour literally would not function without my two favorite gals to shoot with. Kara and Felicia, I’m so glad we found each other. You are both such creative, kind-hearted, good people. Thank you for sharing your friendship and talent with me and for making every shoot/play date so much FUN! Thank you Mom (who btw has coined herself my “momager”) for editing every blog post before it goes live– even though you hate when I say f*ck on the Internet. Thank you Stephanie for literally building Brooke du jour and answering all of my annoying techy questions. I love you and appreciate you and your ginormous brain so much. Thank you friends for every time you came to a Brooke du jour party and waited patiently before eating or touching anything, because you know I’m running behind and need to take enough pictures for the ‘gram. I’m sure I’m forgetting something/someone, but this paragraph is starting to get really long and I feel like that guy at The Oscars who is giving his big speech but the music starts playing and he has to get off the stage and he forgets to thank his wife…
What’s next for Brooke du jour? Let’s dive in, shall we?
