SMU holds off on rush
until the spring semester, so it’s finally just a week away! I know how nerve
wracking it can be to go through rush. None of the women in my family were ever
in sororities, so I had no idea what to expect. The morning of my first open
house I was totally overwhelmed. I’d never seen so much hairspray and David
Yurman in my entire life! Now coming from the other side, I know the older
sorority girls are just as nervous as you (trust me on this one)! As cheesy as
it sounds, remember to be yourself and everything will fall into place. I’ve
truly found a home away from home with girls I’m lucky to call my sisters in DG.
I wish y’all the very same luck! As always, feel free to ask questions in the
comments or if you have something more personal on your mind, shoot me an email
anytime.
The first two days of
rush, Open House Round and Philanthropy Round, are super casual. Dress down in
a t-shirt, jeans, and boots. The dress code for the third day, Skit Round (my
favorite!), can be described as snappy casual. Here’s a sample outfit that’s
equally polished, playful and comfortable:

Preference Round, the
fourth day, is a bit more formal. Stand out just the right amount in a fabulous
cocktail dress. No butts or boobs please! Here are some of my favorites:

For the last event,
Bid Day, just wear a white tee, jeans, and comfy shoes. You’ll be running to
YOUR new sorority, so don’t repeat my mistake and wear fabulous shoes that
you’ll ruin. Oh, and bring a tutu to dance in on the lawn of your new home! ; )
Congrats!

It's so weird because I'm sure we went to similar colleges but I never joined a sorority, so I feel like you're talking about a totally different culture! That outfit pretty much nails "sorority girl" though!

Hi Isa, I think it's important to be a part of a community at a new school. There are so many great ways to get involved and greek life is an example of one way to do so. Thanks for your perspective! xo

These are so pretty, I love that Milly top with the pink pants. Such a classy way to wear pink. So glad I stumbled onto your blog. I love your blog layout and those icons at the end of the post are too cute.
