My friend Kendall visited me in Dallas the weekend we took these photos : )

Outfit: Joie top, Aqua blazer (similar), Gap jeans
Jewelry: Lisi Lerch earrings (obsessed!), Gorjana bracelet, Anne Sisteron love ring (similar)
If you’ve been reading Brooke du jour for a while, it will come as no surprise to you that I love pink! So obviously as soon as I saw this blouse I knew I had to have it! It’s a little lower cut than I usually go for but it’s perfect for a girls night out! The scrunched sleeves are a fun finishing touch, don’t you think? If you don’t happen to be as obsessed with hot pink as I am, this blouse also comes in light pink, white and navy. I guess I’m in a Valentine’s Day mood because this red Joie blouse is also currently in my shopping cart.
These earrings were all the rage last summer. This year’s fringe version might be even better?! I’m also totally into the hot pink pair (duh). Speaking of jewelry, I got this gold bracelet with the olive branch design for my friend Kendall as her Christmas present, buuuut then I stole it back for this shoot! Haha I think I need to buy myself a matching one? Gorjana bracelets are the new friendship bracelets apparently! ; )
I also wanted to share that today is my 24th birthday! I’ve been trying to write this part of the post for a long time. I’ve written it, deleted it and wrote about sparkles and sales instead many times. Don’t get me wrong- I love sparkles and I love sales, but I also felt like I was hiding. I have always admired bloggers who are honest about their personal lives on their sites and social media, but I’ve never ventured into those waters. I’m generally a private person. It’s difficult for me to talk about big things with the people I love— let alone the Internet. I typically find comfort in the fantasy I’ve created, but today I’m trying something new. At the end of 2015, my boyfriend and I decided to end our relationship. Out of respect for him and our relationship, I’m not going to share the details but I did want to acknowledge that it happened.

As I reach my mid-20s, it’s becoming very obvious to me that I’m no longer a kid. I’m an adult and I need to really decide the kind of person I want to be. If I can think of one word to sum up what I expect from this year it would be “growth.” This year, I plan to choose courage over comfort in the hopes of developing into the best version of myself. Okay 24, let’s do this!

Happy Birthday Brooke! Thanks for being so honest in this blog post. 🙂 I'm sure it was a bit out of your comfort zone but it definitely leads to more growth! Excited for you this new year!

Yikes just read the rest of your post, sorry, my comment seems insensitive. Beautiful top, but what's important is that I hope you're doing well, breakups are so difficult but are definitely a time of personal growth. Looking forward to reading your blog this year!
